Which Cage ?

I've been searching for a cage ( and a Grey) for awhile now. Which of these two cages do you think would be better?

This one is a little bigger than the next one I'll link to, but it bars look a little thinner and the spacing is only 1/2". I like it's size though.. 30" x 30" x 42" L x D x H.. I can't find what gauge the bars are, but if you zoom in they look rather thin to me?

This one is only 32" x 22" x 35" L x D x H... but the bars are thicker 5mm, and spaced at 3/4".. I also like this play top better than the 1st..

I'm still just researching I haven't even contacted anyone about buying my bird yet. I'll open myself up for some critics here, but I've never owned a bird ( or been owned By a Bird..haha). I do believe I can handle it though. I've taken care of a little bit of everything over the years.. aquariums, snakes , cats, dogs, ferrets and farm animals.. LoL

Let me know what you think of these two cages, I'd rather not move to far up in price.

For greys, amazons and small cockatoos, the cage should be approx 33 in widex 28 in deep x 55 in high ( without stand which is included with purchase). The next size smaller cage is made is made for timneh African greys and similar sized parrots which are smaller. Bar spacing should be 3/4 to 1 in.. The rule of thumb is *the bigger the better*

Prices vary all over the place but for a good price, check EBAY which have quality cages at good prices.

The bottom link seems okay. Could be a bit bigger but it's ok. Don't get anything smaller. The other link is for smaller birds.

 

The cage I posted is 36 in wide x 28 in deep x 55 in high . The base is 15 in----------total is 60 in. high

 

I have 3 of them. All the same size, same manufacturer. Just different colors. Got them all on EBAY.

The upper Petco link is actually the bigger of the two cages.? It has an interior height of 42"..... The 64" you see on the bottom link is overall.. It's interior height is only 35".

I personally would get Kings cage and just be done with it. The 306 or the 406.

I had a King's 137 which is actually quite roomy, too.

But this is somewhere between the cost of the King's Euro line & the 2 you originally linked. My ekkie's in one w/lots of toys, perches, a boing & plenty of room to spare. Like the veranda door & the overall quality. Cleans nice & is aging very well.

What are the actual cage measurements of the one from Craigslist you picked up? I've been watching, but haven't found one yet on there.

...sounds about right. I have no problem standing inside it to clean & I'm 5'9". It's huge, but not overly heavy. So I can move it around, which I really like. But I think it still weighs something like 185 lbs...? So it's not at all cheap.

 

Well treated, a good cage should last 15 yrs or more. So it's still a relatively new cage at about 5 yo. The paint job (which is really the reason you usually have to replace a cage) is easy to clean & not oxidizing or rusting anywhere.

 

Kura's also a trash picker. She'll fish anything she can out of the litter tray. The space between the grate & litter tray is ~ 4-5". She tried for quite a while, but she can't even get close. This might also be something to watch for w/whatever cage you end up choosing. Some birds are into that sort of thing & besides being just gross, it can make them sick.

Well the firsat cage is fit for it. If you haven't planned for a bird yet then no problem. But i suggest you he first one whenever you are going to buy a bird. There are huge types of cages. Some are according to birds kind that in which atmosphere they want to live. So some time a big cage is necessary for then. So i suggest to buy a big one.
