MiracleAces
Im so happy for Luna! Today she actually used her broken/ healing leg. It still has the new smaller splint on it. Generally she either grabs something with her beak for balance and then puts her good leg on my arm to step up or she leans her head all the way over my arm and uses her head/neck to pull her body onto my arm. Today without balance issues she raises her healing leg onto my arm first and then stepped up with the good leg. Amazing progress for her. What a great thing to see before going off to work. Jayd
I don't think she does, but we all know how well birds mask any issues. You would have no idea anything happened to her except for where the bone healed. As for the band removal issue. Here's another anectodal case where the vet "thinks" the band got caught. But this one was a split-band. Folks, keep your solid bands on - it's the only way you can ID your bird in a dispute. And those happen far more often than a band getting caught. I'm sorry, but info on leg bans are not always useful. I've posted a number of times of incident's and even death due to bands. It's no effort for someone to snip the band off. Talon
Just imagine if the unthinkable happened and your bird escapes. What are the chances that someone would find it.. And would be able to use the band to look at it. There is no database that would give the info regarding what's on the band. My belief is its not worth the risk of their every day playing when they are unattended and playing.
Greywings
Micro chip will not get caught on anything and will reveal ownership. A decision only you and your Vet can make most birds have no difficulties with the implant but owners have more fears than the birds. It is another choice. MiracleAces
Luna is using her healing toes (leg is healed). She is starting to get some movement into her toes and flexes them in and out. The nerve damage is definitely healing. Here is a pic of her last night using those healing toes
judygram
Well bless her little pea picking heart, that leg has healed and she is using it and those toes, I bet most if not all that nerve damage will repair itself, so glad to hear this news, she looks great.
