BMustee
Get a cement perch...make sure it is cement and not the sand covered ones though. My grey had such sharp claws when he was a baby he would have made the perfect pet for a diabetic. Every time I would pick him up my fingers would be bloody. I got the Cement perch at Petsmart...it was around $17 but I got to tell you it was the best money ever spent. Within a day or two his nails were worn down. I put the perch in front of the food dish so he has to get on it every day.

Makena
Every once in a while Makena will chew on a nail and make it super sharp. So we just take a regular nail file and smooth it out. Takes 2 seconds and saves our hands! We have 2 cement perches that work great, but every so often a nail will need a little extra help.
judygram
Josey has been sharpening her claws lately and my hands and arms can prove it, she has cement perches but they are still very sharp, maybe I will try a nail file.
Shim101
Well, cement perches don't always work. And I heard that they can't be standing on them for a long period of time. Like there main pearch. I have to take Calvin to the doctor like every other month to get them done. He tends to bite his nails a lot when they get long. I have the doctor do it. She is good at it, and she knows how to handle Calvin. Plus, I dont want Calvin thinking it's me thats doing it. I come in after they are done and kinda "Save the day". Plus, It doesnt cost a lot to get them done...

Post edited by: Shim101, at: 2007/10/15 07:
