I've read through a couple different books and next spring I am planning on bringing the first bird into my house, a wonderful little baby Quaker. I've been chatting on and off with different breeders and I plan on making good and sure that the birds are treated properly before I buy. Anyway, the reason I posted is because I'm looking for any information they don't talk about in the books. Real life experience with people who know first hand what its like having a Quaker. Books are great informative resources,but human experiences can't be beaten.I have no experience with quakers but i do hope some of the other members will be able to help you out. scrohan Posted October 19, 2007 Share Posted October 19, 2007 I have a pet Quaker. Opie is just at a year old. To sum up the little green pickle's personality, "Napoleon". He hates everyone but me, thinks he is 6 feet tall and is fearless. He is not territorial about his cage as many are, but is definitely a one person bird. It has taken a surprisingly short time for him to learn to play nice on the playpen with my sun conure and eclectus. He is a wonderful little fellow and very loyal to me. He isn't a one person bird either.. he loves my whole family and loves being part of the family!! He bobs his little head and grabs some toy links when he is wanting to play. He has only said one word.. Romo, so thats what we call him!! He loves to sit on our shoulders and cuddle. Being on our shoulder does not make him feel dominate.. he is just friendly.
