Quakers

On the hunt for Quaker info. I've read through a couple different books and next spring I am planning on bringing the first bird into my house, a wonderful little baby Quaker.

 

I've been chatting on and off with different breeders and I plan on making good and sure that the birds are treated properly before I buy.

 

Anyway, the reason I posted is because I'm looking for any information they don't talk about in the books. Real life experience with people who know first hand what its like having a Quaker.

 

Also I LOVE pictures of your birds so please feel free to post pictures of your bird, its cage, its toys, exc.

RobertsKitty a good post, asking members for first hand experience is a good way to learn. Books are great informative resources,but human experiences can't be beaten.I have no experience with quakers but i do hope some of the other members will be able to help you out.

I have two pet quakers and two breeders. If you look down you'll see lots of pictures. Don't have any new ones at this moment. Maybe later today I'll take some new pictures of the babies.

I have a pet Quaker. Opie is just at a year old. To sum up the little green pickle's personality, "Napoleon". He hates everyone but me, thinks he is 6 feet tall and is fearless. He is not territorial about his cage as many are, but is definitely a one person bird. It has taken a surprisingly short time for him to learn to play nice on the playpen with my sun conure and eclectus. He is a wonderful little fellow and very loyal to me. He also enjoys eating whatever we are having for dinner and will try anything. I wish you the best with yours.

My little Quaker, Romo.. is so cute and playful!! He isn't a one person bird either.. he loves my whole family and loves being part of the family!! He bobs his little head and grabs some toy links when he is wanting to play. He has only said one word.. Romo, so thats what we call him!!

He loves to sit on our shoulders and cuddle. Being on our shoulder does not make him feel dominate.. he is just friendly.

Hopefully one day he will say more words:)

One thing my vet told me is Quakers can get over weight easily. So just watch for that...

 

I have little bit of issues with mine, he only want to play with his one toy. Brought all kinds of toys, but nothing.
