Breakthrough!

For hubby anyway. Lol

Hubby hasn't been the most thrilled with Neytiri. But I have caught him talking nice to her and saying bye to her when he goes out. Well last night he was giving her a treat with his palm flat open and she climbed up on his hand!!! I thought he might freak but he was calm and when she saw me she came to me (no surprise there). Wish I got a pic of it.

Now if she would stop growling at him other times we'd be in really good shape.

Progress indeed! I'll bet your husband was just tickled, whether he admits it or not :) Timber is tolerating my husband very well, but he won't step up or let him give him scratches. Yesterday Gary said, "Are you planning to get another bird? Timber might like company." I was totally surprised by that and said "No, I wasn't thinking about it." He looked disappointed. Then it hit me, and I said "You want a bird that will be "yours" don't you?" He looked a little shame-faced but said "Well, that would be nice." You just never know!

It is so sweet when our family members long for a relationship when they are the "other". Gilbert has thrilled our family to no end when he rebuffs my overtures in favor of them. For reasons known only to the mind of a grey, we fall in and out of favor from time to time. It is a big step for Neytiri and her "daddy". Happy day. Timber may do the same thing with Gary. David has been patiently talking to Gilbert, giving him pine nuts and almonds and rescuing him when he jumps to the floor. About a week ago, I had asked Gilbert for a step up and he responded like he would rather poke out my eye. David was standing next to me and after a wicked swipe in my direction he waved his little foot for "daddy" to rescue him from the ole sea hag. Haahahaha. If I could have bottled the glee that David felt at that moment, it would be priceless. In our case, two minutes later it will change. The fact that our family members care about our relationship and wish for more is optimistic. I love that your families are involved too.

LOL, Do it, the difference between 1 parrot and 2 is one more cage to clean, no biggie. Don't forget, Amazons, get along good with Greys [most of the time] at the least they co-exist. Visit the Amazon room, [ A Mans Bird, lol] Thanks Maggie

What a nice surprise for him to have Neytiri step up for him and maybe it will be the start of many more good things to come for him, a small step but a good one with more to come.

Most of us bird people can't stop at just one bird, its more fun with more and we don't want to limit ourselves to just one species as we like variety, I have 3 different birds and though there are more I would love to own I hold myself back because I feel that the 3 I have are all I have time for.

LOL Now you have to wonder what surprise may await you some day when you come home...

I really wouldn't mind having another bird, and would really like to in a way. My worry is time. Timber is a bit "needy" and sometimes I feel like I can't give him as much attention as I want due to work and family stuff. So I ask myself, what if I get another bird and that one wants my attention (not Gary's) too? As well as the where or where would I put another cage etc.

You are right to be concerned. When I birdie sat my DS's quaker Isabelle it was difficult. Jake and Isabelle couldn't be out at the same time because she wouldn't leave him alone. I felt that there just wasn't enough me to go around especially since I had to take her into my bedroom for out of cage time.
