Darwinsmom Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Sooooo easy to make!! I bought 2 basic microphone stands. They are good and solid with 10 lb cast iron bases so they dont tip, added a perch to the top and voila...I can take them anywhere.
CLB Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Great idea! Told my son and now he is worried he might have to lock up his mic stand!!
Spinner Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Awesome find! I've always had problems with tip-overs and this should solve that one.
katana600 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 That is very clever and well done. The fact that they telescope makes them perfect for beside a chair or near the kitchen counter level and still keep your parrot at the preferred height. CLB you will have to tell your son "Mic stand? What mic stand? As anyone can see that is a parrot stand. See the perch?" hahahaha... I love that one person may see something for one purpose and another will come along and repurpose it for something else.
CheckTheBarn Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Hello!! I am new here. Is there any way for me to see the pictures of the portable perch you made out of a mic stand? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it shows me that the image is deleted? I am bringing my new boy home this weekend, and the only thing I don't have covered/prepared is a stand I can take around to different parts of the house for him!! Thanks!!!!
Timbersmom Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 I haven't seen Darwinsmom around in a long time, so I'm not sure you will see a response to this. Just wanted to let you know!
CheckTheBarn Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Thank you so much for letting me know! I guess I will have to wing it, huh? Hehe. Thanks again!!
Timbersmom Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Maybe one of the active members actually did make one. If so, they will probably post a pic for you
Greywings Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 My son made this one from the base of an old office rolly chair, added a piece of plywood to that mounted a pipe collar inserted some pvc and stuck a Crape Myrtle branch into that. then just added toys and rope. Harry Too is modeling the stand.
