katana600 Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 I wish I could answer the question about how often Timber can have a chicken bone. Maybe if you post that in the health room explaining his weight issue, you might get some suggestions. Also, give your vet a call because he already knows Timber and what you are trying to accomplish. My thought is if you remove the skin, the little meat he would get shouldn't be bad for him for a once a week treat. But, I am just guessing. I know if I found something Gilbert liked this much, I would be wanting to give it to him for every meal. LOL. Now, I know that isn't good so I have to just pace myself.
Timbersmom Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 I will post in the health room. I do strip the majority of the meat off. Funny to see him gnaw the gristle off the end though! And yes, I'd like to give him one daily, though I'd assume he would get tired of it as he does most things.
Greywings Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 At our house they get a chicken bone once or twice a month.
Timbersmom Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Thanks! Timber will be disappointed, but he will survive. Do you think once a week is too often then?
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Ask an Avian vet. Sophie eats a piece of chicken daily, since my dogs eat boiled chicken daily. Its to keep her busy, so they can eat in peace. Ask Dave, Judy or Jayd. I bet they would know! Nancy
