Ray P Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 To love a amazon parrot is to understand the species along with all the good and the bad. To be able to know what kind of behavior to expect at certain times in their life and how to get through those bad times.
Talon Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 What a wonderful statement. It is very true. I find owning a ZON is nothing like owning a grey, it's a whole different ball game.
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Now, Kiki is shaking things up. Have been home alot this summer. She's flying to all of us! Unusual for her. She will land on my wrist when I am chewing on a popsicle. She waits until I am 3/4 done. Grabs the popsicle, flies off!LOL! Now facinated with the refrig. Sitting on top, waiting for us to open it. Has actually flown into the fridge! She is getting extrmely brave, and expects us all to support her plans! What the heck? Nancy
Sarasota Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Beautiful, Ray. Is there anything more wonderful than the unconditional love and acceptance we give our birds? I try to extend it to every animal I encounter. ...and some people too.
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Noone has responded to my concerns regarding Kiki. Can you all please help? Nancy
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Thanks Talon! I'm worried that Ryan, left for college last week, Sean leaving for college next week. It will be me,to care for the birds. We have always cared for the birds, as a family.I'm starting to worry! Nancy
judygram Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Nancy I am sure they will all adjust to the changes going on in the household, I have no experience with zons but it seems all you have said about Kiki is usual behavior for them so enjoy her antics and don't let it upset you, roll with the punches.
Luvparrots Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I'll not sure what your concern is Nancy. Kiki is acting like a happy zon to me. My Louie loves to fly over and pull my wire framed glass off of my face and perch across the room from me and just grin away as I beg for my glasses back. Sitting on my bookcase/disc case and pulling my discs and tossing them on the floor is great fun to him. Louie is a busy guy and destroys a wood toy in a flash. I'm just happy that he is not a woodwork chewer.
