kiwibarb12
AAAAhhhhhhhhh!! I want to add another grey to my house, and really want to make it an older, adopted grey. Beckette is almost 12, and I think one about the same age would be good. I want her to have a flock mate ,even if they don't get along together , of the same size and the same age. Unfortunately I live in Arkansas, which seems to be the equivalent of the birdie black hole. There seems to be no bird rescue in Arkansas, and no-one who want to rehome their bird. I would even fly one in, but can't find a rescue that would be willing to ship. This is very annoying! I would request that if anyone hears of a grey for adoption, and they are comfortable with it, that they could send me a message. I can supply vet and personal references. I don't want a lot, just one little grey bird for me to love.{Feel-bad-0002006A} sniff, sniff -wipe of eye.{Emotions-000200B8}
judygram
I wish I could help you but I can't since I live in Virginia but maybe someone on here will know of one and get in touch with you. Seek and ye shall find.
BMustee
I found a website when I was looking for a Grey that lists breeders by state, and there are a few in AR...here is a link. http://www.birdsnways.com/birds/brad1.htm Hope this can help. loviechick
Yeah I'm sure it will be a challenge to find a Grey that is older, and tame no less! Just be careful as others have said before about geting your bird a companion, my two CAG's hate eachother LOL
sandra902
have you looked on petfinder? you can search by all sorts of criteria including zip code. i myself have been active in the past as a rescue transporter. if they have them for dogs & katz, i'm sure there are parrot people out there that would set up a birdy tranport. lovemyGreys
kiwibarb12 good luck with your search, i take my hat off to you for wanting a rescue, hard work i can vouch for that but never the less, rewarding
kiwibarb12
Nothing admirable about it really - its kind of like adopting a 20 year old - you miss all the raising and teenager years, and help by giving an older bird a loving home. Beckette was a rehome, and she is fabulous. Weird at time, wonderful at times, but just a love, and such an individual.
Guest briansmum
nothing admirable about it??? of course there is! i wouldn't have known where to start with a rescue grey, still wouldn't, which is why i don't have one. i'm still learning with my own. to feel confident enough to give a grey with some problems, or from a background you don't know a home. or to bring, like you said "a 20 year old" that doesn't know you into your home and accept it as one of your own, thats very admirable. kiwibarb12
I think with Beckette ignorance was bliss. I probably make all the mistakes possible, but she and I are resilent creatures, and we survived my learning curve. I just think that there are lots of people who want the cute babies, but I could give a great home to a bird that maybe isn't quite as desirable to the general public. I have a lot of stickability and persistance, so birds and I do well. Eventually they realise that I am too stupid to quit  , and do what I want them to do. I have grey hair myself so I don't mind a bit of baggage.
Guest briansmum
well then i think what you did was admirable. i didnt get a baby because it was cute, i got one because i was new to birds in general let alone greys and i wanted us to learn together, and we have and will continue to do so. i know one day i will be able to offer another grey a loving home, but that day will be when i have learnt a bit more and have more space (tiny living quarters for birds at the moment  ) and i would love to addopt an adult timneh one day. you gave a loveing home to a bird who needed one and you persevered. do not under estimate it. what you and anyone else who would do the same did was admirable.
