RubysDad
Hi, all. My name is Tom and my CAG is named Ruby. Ruby has bonded with my wife so I am just the chief cook and bowl washer. I have 3 children in their late teens. A little history about Ruby . . . . We bought Ruby in 2009 as a 7th Grade Science Project in that our youngest was going to teach Ruby how to talk. However, at the time, Ruby was only 8 mos. old and not much of a talker. In January 2010, Ruby flew off my wife's shoulder, circled once then off she sailed on a rainy, cold day. We mobilized the children and I did research on various forums. Long and short, Ruby was found about a 1/2 mile away the next afternoon after she was attacked by a Golden Eagle. The eagle put a 3/4 inch puncture wound into Ruby's chest. My wife rushed her to the vet. Today, she is just fine and adored by everyone. I am glad to be a part of this forum and looking forward to sharing Ruby's many antics. Tom
Darwinsmom
Wow, Ruby is a lucky girl to have survived that. Photos?
judygram
Hello Tom and welcome to our family, so glad you could join us. Wow that was incredible that you got Ruby back after being attacked by an eagle, she is truly lucky to be alive and I am so glad she has healed from that terrible experience. I assume you do not have any other birds as none were mentioned. I do have to chastise you for getting her as a science project but I hope now she is viewed as another member of the family, they are so much more than a pet, they are companions that sense how we feel and react to our emotions. We love pictures here so if you have some of Ruby you would share with us we would love to see them.
