There are about 11 million pet parrots in the U.S.

We will start out with 2 species.

What % off the 11 million are african greys ? (CAG and TAG)

What % off the 11 million are amazons (all species)

I have been looking for the break down and have not found it YET.

This is a parrot lovers question.

Well, since there's only 2 types of greys that are sold and there's at least 10 different types of Zons that are sold, the comparison wouldn't be accurate if you're talking about popularity..I do know that the most sought after parrot is the CAG because of 3 major reasons

1---They]re well know for their intelligence

2---they're very well know for their talking ability

3---they're extremely quiet

I have asked myself the same question and have not found answers either. It seems that every year the American Kennel Club lists the most popular breed of dog. I suppose that comes from people who register their animals with the organization. I'm not sure how bird companions can be tracked with similar accuracy. I'd love to know.

Guess work, pure guess work.

BOOOOOO on the American Kennel Club. Very fu**ked up group of neurotics.

A moment of silence for the 1 amazon, 1 macaw and 1 cockatoo that were killed yesterday by someone who broke into a woman's home and mutilated and killed the birds in their cages. happened in PA. Where did we go wrong. How could we create these so called huiman beings? $1000 reward for any info
