cheebamaster
Hey all I was just wondering if it's okay to give a grey canned or frozen food...for example if I want to give the bird beans but don't feel like cooking them can I used ones that are preserved in a can or is that a big nono...also does everything have to be organic or can I get away with using regular fruits/veggies from local supermarket. Wingy
Read the sides of the packages. Canned beans contain juice with corn syrup, canned vegies usually contain added salt and often other additives. I rarely eat them because of the added junk. If you looking for something fast and easy try cooking and freezing into individual servings. My supermarket has a line of organic frozen vegies with no additives and the price isn't much more than the non organic. As for fresh stuff the pesticide content is extremely high in some fruits/vegies. I know Yahoo had a story not that long ago about certain vegies/fruits that you should always buy organic. Personally I will not buy strawberries or celery that aren't organic.
Greywings
Like Wingy said try to buy organic even in canned food, read the label due to salt and sugars inside and you can empty the beans or Peas-whatever into a sieve and rinse well to remove most of the extra salts & sugars prior to feeding. I do sometime use frozen veggies but again read the labels many contain added salt.
judygram
So many canned foods have so much salt added, you might try the ones labeled no salt added but I would think frozen would be preferable to canned and of course fresh is the best but we cannot always have them available that way.
