my parrot's calcium defiency

hi my parrot charlie is 5yrs old he suffers from a calcium defiency he is constantly falling over unsteady on his feet cant hold his food or anything, ive recently had him at the vets and he has had numerous calcium injections as a result ive taken him back home and he has gotten worse he is under a 5,0 birdlamp and still can not stand.His gland his throat is so swollen its like he is gasping for air,can any1 give me advice as the vet is saying to just up his calcium and call bk next week...will my parrot get better ??? Can any1 tell me should i change his food and how long does it take for parrots to get better ?? Ive already put his perch low he is just at the bottom of his cage not really moving much just wobbly like jelly tysm

my vet is very good ty ....ive just had my parrot at the vet it isnt just a calcium defiency it could be a tumor also the blood circulation isnt flowing properly in his feet and his wings this is why he is falling over all the time , so i have to wait till tues to see what is going to happen just thought id update :)

I am so sorry for you and Charlie. We went through serious illness with two of our first greys, it is such a helpless feeling and you want to comfort them and make them all better. They seem to understand so much, I am sure he knows how much you care for him. I hope you get some answers for him soon. I am every so sorry you have to go through this but glad he has you for his buddy to get him the care he needs.

If he is not improved they do sell a liquid calcium supplement at the drug store called Calcium glutinate, it will bring your calcium levels up quickly. I have no idea about the dosage however so just ask your Vet if that might be helpful and request dosage information. I must also ask if he is getting any/enough unfiltered Sunlight to assist the absorption of the calcium.

hey there ty for listening but charlie had to be put to sleep :( aww so sad it was more than the calcium most likely a brain tumour the vet said its best for him he couldnt do anything and wouldnt of got any better just gettin worse eachday but what a wonderful bird just very sad right now because he was such a character but i couldnt prolong it anymore ..anyway ty

I am so sorry for your family and for Charlie. Thank you for coming back and letting us know the sad news. With all the struggles in life, losing a light and wonderful presence in your life is so hard. My heart is with you during this time of grief. My condolences and support are with you and your family in this time of loss.

Oh that was so sad, my heart goes out to you for his loss. Keep the good memories close and be thankful his bad days were few in number. I know it was difficult to come and share your loss we do appreciate your sharing that with us all.
