Sassy
Greetings from a potential new owner. Long story short... Hubby's not totally thrilled I'm doing this but I've tried to explain that I need this and want this very much. With that said I bought a cage tonight off Craigslist. Hubby was with me and helped. I think it will be a great home for my future addition. I'm patiently (ok I lied) awaiting word from the bird shop that the babies are in (any day now). They wouldn't be able to go home till sometime in July. I can't wait to meet them and finally bring them home. I look forward to everyone's guidance in this new endevour. Till next time take care. ariisamis
Welcome and congrats on getting a baby. You have come to the right place to help you along the way and to have people to share the love of a bird with. I am new myself so I don't have much advice to give, just enjoy this every step of the way.
judygram
Hello Sassy and welcome to our family. So you have decided to get a grey huh, do you have any other birds right now or is this your first one? My hubby was not totally thrilled when I got my birds but like you it was something I wanted, he has his things and I have mine but he does enjoy some interaction with them now so all is fine, I bet your hubby will be more enthusiastic after the bab y is home. Be sure to read thru as many of the threads as possible to learn all you can and do not hesitate to ask any and all questions you may have and we will help you in any way we can. Doug
Welcome, Sassy! I have the same situation with reversed genders. My wife, Kel, doesn't understand the appeal. She does try to interact with Ellie but Ellie isn't terribly receptive. I hope your husband is tolerant of messes or your marriage might be at risk! Ellie loves her yucca "kabobs" which mean there are bits of yucca all over the house - Ellie throws the bits to the floor and the dogs run off with them... Ellie doesn't like to mess up her playtop, so she goes to the edge, aims carefully and poops on the floor. (The paper in the poop tray is mostly to make it easy to clean up the bits of food and toys!)

Sassy
Hi Sassy are you getting more than one grey????? If your hubby is helping find a cage and think he is coming along nicely with accepting your new companion(s). Can't wait to travel along with you on your grey adventure. I'm only getting one... just don't know if it will be a boy or girl... As far as messes go.. our house can be a bit messy now (mostly clutter) so I think by having to keep up with the bird mess it will have the overall affect of keeping the house clean... from now until I bring my new addition home I'm going to be working on getting into a cleaning routine. I'm also going to continue to read as much as I can about the CAG as I don't want to mess this up. Sassy

murfchck
Welcome! I stay at home now and you would think cleaning up after these guys would be easier but, oh no! The sweeping and mopping is endless. I am sure my husband thought i was just lazy at first but then the first weekend when he was home with us he learned quickly. Lol i actually had broom blisters. They are worth it!!

Sassy
thanks everyone... now the long wait... first for the babies to arrive and then the wait to bring one home... ARGHH don't know if I can be patient.
Acappella
Ahh, patience. I believe that has to be one of the top-ten most often used words on this forum. Right up there with poop, mess, cage, toy, poop, money, food, feather, and poop!!!!!!! These guys are great at teaching patience. When you're dealing with an animal as long-lived as a grey, you learn to speak in terms of months and years instead of days and weeks. Have fun learning and waiting for your baby, and welcome to the forum.
