Zoom Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 We just noticed this today. Kazoo (14-year-old Amazon) is closing her right eye for a few seconds at a time, several times each minute. There's no discharge or anything like that. She seems to be feeling okay - no noticeable differences in health, behaviour or activity except for the one eye. Any ideas what might be going on here?
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 NOT normal. I'm pretty conservative when taking my birds to vet, but this needs attention. May be just something in bird's eye. An easy fix with flushing. Nancy
judygram Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 It does sound like something that should be checked out, at least give your vet a call and inquire and let us know what you find out please.
TWIX Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I have made some research over the internet and found this link: http://www.mit.edu/~rei/Birds-sick.html It might be helpful. Good luck
Zoom Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 She seems fine, thanks for asking! The one-eye-closing thing only lasted for one evening. The next morning I watched her very carefully and was prepared to take her to the vet if it continued to happen, but fortunately it had stopped. But holy hormones! She's definitely in a destructive mood! Every chance she gets, she's looking for trouble.
judygram Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Thats great, she probably had something in her eye that was irritating her and it came out on its own, alls well that ends well, thanks for letting us know.
