Thebirdistheword Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Any advice on giving Roxie PRIME for a vitamin suppliment
Dave007 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 If your bird is basically healthy, vitamins of any type shouldn't be given without a vet's ok and he'll be the one who tells you what kind and how to give it and he'll give you the reason why the bird needs the vitamins. Normally, greys and other parrots get their natural vitamins from the various foods they eat.
Thebirdistheword Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 Ok The vet said to give her cuttle bone but she doesnt want it.
Dave007 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Ok The vet said to give her cuttle bone but she doesnt want it. Lots of greys don't like cuttlebone. You can try mineral blocks but I doubt that he'll like that either. Both items are basically calcium blocks. One is colored and the other isn't. If you're really interested in giving your bird a great vitamin, you should try Red Palm Oil. It has the 2 most important vitamins they need. VIT A -- VIT E It's also the natural food they eat in the wild. On your browser type in SWANSONS VITAMINS type in RED PALM OIL on their page It'll pop up. It's a highly recommended product.
Thebirdistheword Posted February 16, 2012 Author Posted February 16, 2012 thanks so much Dave I will get some
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Dave is quite knowledgeable and has excellent advice. I would trust him, if I was a new parent. I don't do vitamin supplements, but we have an established diet at this stage in our life. But... if I were a new parent, I would be just as concerned as you are. Just means...you are going to be great! Nancy
Greywings Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 If your Vet wants more calcium in her diet add more dark leafy greens.
