Morana Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 It is hard for me to believe that a bird looks like this:
DawL Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 He looks very cute, and cuddly, but I feel bad for him He has a rare recessive genetic disorder called Chrysanthemum disease. I bet he can't see a thing!
Mistyparrot Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I do hope no one tries to breed any more like this. Poor little mite. Steve n Misty
JeffNOK Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Wow. It is certainly something unusual. Is it just a feather issue? I wonder if anything can be done to improve its quality of life. Cute but sad.
judygram Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I have seen this before and even though it is cute it must be hard to deal with all those feathers and how could the poor thing see, I hope no one wants to keep breeding these oddities.
MarcusCAG Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I will say that Whipper looks adorable, but being blind and everything is no fair trade just to be cute like that in an unusual way. But if he's with a loving owner who's sensitive to his needs, then he at least has a lot more than many other 'normal' birds have, unfortunately...
Koekie Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Aah, what a poor little bird. I don't think he can fly with those wierd feathers. Where are his eyes?
danmcq Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 It is sad when breeders actually create a mutation that never lives the life they were intended to have and enjoy the world, it's beauty and all the pleasures it has to offer.
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I hope this bird has someone that trully loves him. He can't survive in a cage or playgym. He will fall. He needs to live a life in a " playpen", unfortunatelly. They unfortunately, cannot develop their sense of smell, or hearing, like blind people. Nancy
aerial.2000 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 wow it almost looks like a stuffed toy ...
Eshana Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Unfortunately with this mutation, the feathers constantly grow instead of molting. They do not live very long, and are unable to fly. I hope no one encourages this bird to be bred.
