chezron Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 The other day our new rehomed parrot, Pancho launched into song. He sang the first phase of, "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" about ten times, clear as day. We didn't know he could sing! Plus, he knows a number of animal noises he will make on command, like chicken, cat or rooster. He is EXTREMELY food-motivated (I guess all amazons are), so will figure it out pretty quickly. Wild, huh?
Luvparrots Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 That's wonderful! So when do we get to hear your sweet Caruso, aka Pancho???? hint, hint!!!!
judygram Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Now all we need is a short video of that so we all can crack up, amazons sure are entertaining birds.
Ray P Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 My Cricket likes to sing off key, Way off key. Food motivated, you bet. We never use food to reward any good behavior we use affection and it works just as well. We will give her a treat just to give her a treat, nothing special so food is not a motivator to do something or behave.
chezron Posted December 2, 2011 Author Posted December 2, 2011 I will work on a video one of these days. He is not quite camera ready. I am trying to teach him animal noises on command. So far he does chicken pretty well and is working on rooster and cat. He's so funny. He gets so excited. He also loves his toys. I give him corks and he is such a happy camper. Unlike a grey he doesn't get bored with the same toy which saves on toy expenditures- for sure.
birdhouse Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 What a nice surprise! One of the perks of adopting a rehomed fid. Wonder what else Pancho still has in his bag of tricks.
