New/rehomed CAG

Recommended Posts

Hello all:

We are new-to-Greys, having taken in an 8 y.o. male CAG a few weeks ago. His owner passed away & he spent a few months with a friend of his former owner before coming here. He has a few issues (plucks, lived with smokers for maybe 6 or 7 years, addicted to peanuts & not interested in much else, frightened of new things & moving in with us . . . everything is new). He is just starting to settle in, and has moments of comic brilliance - and is now feeling comfortable enough to say what is on his mind.

Turns out that is quite a lot.

Anyhow, I'll be cruising a few of the forums. We have 4 'keets & 2 other parrots (an amazon & a Pionus, coincidentally, both 8 & both male). Gilbert the Greyt reminds me that it took a while for Beaker (the Pionus) to warm up to a few new foods, too.

Anyhow, looking forward to learning more about Greys.

Kim

Hi Kim welcome to the Grey family! Looking forward to hearing more about Gilbert. Kudos to you for taking in an older grey! We would love to hear about your zon and pionus also. A lot of us are muli-parrot lovers! Pictures of your flock are also very welcome (hint, hint!!)

Yay for you and your flock with the new addition. Coincidentally, we also have a rehomed TAG named Gilbert somewhere in the same age range as yours. Glad to hear he is warming up a bit and able to show you his talent for comedy and brilliance. It only gets better as he becomes more familiar and relaxed. The new foods will pique his interest soon as he watches the rest of his new flock digging in to the delicious variety he is being offered. Congratulations on your new arrival as well as the rest of your feathered friends. Thanks for joining us. We learn from each other every day and it really helps all of us to share.
