Ray P
I know that this topic has been covered before about our parrots, but as I sit and play with my flock they each have their own scent, not smell, but a very plesent scent. My Crickets scent is very differant than my tiels and grey. Not that it`s a bad thing, just differant And I enjoy putting my nose on the back of her neck and takeing a big sniff. She likes it too. My question is for the members that have more than one species of amazons is. Does each species of amazons have their own scent or are they the same from species to species This is a I just want to know question.
judygram
I don't have an amazon but I do know that each of my birds have their own distinctive smell and I could recognize each one by smell even if I couldn't see them, I have always enjoyed taking a deep whiff of each bird. Birdnut
I have heard that Amazons are known for their scents. I don't have an actual Amazon, but I have a couple of species that are sort of distant cousins and that have distinctive scents. We have a blue headed pionus who has the most wonderful sweet musky scent. Some people don't like the way a pionus smells, but I just love it. Then we have a parrotlet (Amazon in tiny body) whose face has a faint but distinct skunky scent.
Talon
I LOVE the smell of my amazon. It's quite pleasant and very different from my greys. I especially love it when she walks up onto me when I'm reclining and watching tv and puts her head down against my face for cuddles and love.
