Doug
Everyone is emphatic that we should not buy twine at the hardware store due to potentially toxic chemicals. How do we know the stuff at the craft stores are any better? Does anyone actually have direct knowledge that some hardware store twine have chemicals? Or is that just something that we accept on faith?
JDS5607
Faith. Usually, by law they have to say if something is treated. They may not have to share WHAT it is treated with, but it's usually on the packaging somewhere. I have compared the twine that is natural to that of treated, and usually the treated twine has some kind of glossy texture, or seems sticky
Doug
The stuff at the hardware store does not mention any treatments. (Nor is it glossy or sticky.) The smell is the same as the stuff from the craft store.
