Ruby
my grey is currently going through her first molt. her wings are clipped but she's had one new feather on her wing grow in. it originally looked okay but today it looks like it's kind of hanging and turned backwards. it must hurt really bad because if she bumps it she gets really upset. just wondering what i should do about this or will it just fall out eventually? Cupid
Take her to your avian vet or to where you get her clipped so they can fix that... I Love Rubys name!
danmcq
Leave the feather alone. Birds are the masters of the universe in feather maintenance and she will deal with it. No need for the drama of taking her to a vet or trying to fix it yourself.
Luvparrots
Dan is correct, the bird can take care of a loose feather on its own. There is a video somewhere here that I posted of my parrot taking care of a feather. I find it fascinating to watch them preen their feathers. JDS5607
Sully gets these often. He usually gets them on his back, and it does look very painful. It will fall out or she will find a way to get it off if it's hurting her. I would leave it be. If it seems infected at the skin (red, oozing, inflamed), take her to the vet, otherwise, I believe she will be fine
judygram
Josey has these from time to time and I just let her take care of it in her own way unless it is bleeding then it needs removed to stop the blood flow.
