The video's were so sad, but thankfully, someone found them before they all died. This is upsetting to me. Sorry, I didn't read all the blog, but I will. Just I have to get in the bed, can barely hold my eyes open. It has been a rough weekend for me. How can people do this to the babies? I just don't understand. The dirty water, drives me nuts in my cages, and some days, seems all I can get done is clean the water dishes, but I could never imagine what I just saw. No wonder these poor things were in bad health. I am glad you shared that but kind of wish you hadn't. If that makes any since. I am going to donate as well. These precious babies need our love and support.

The worst part is that the man had moved out of the house. It was condemned and he had to move out due to health reasons anyway. But he kept buying birds and releasing them into the house. About 30 of the birds that they found were already dead. Absolutely horrible story!

I got an update from my bird's breeder:

"The club(Angel Wings) dropped off toys, a few perches, zupreem (new flavors..nut and veggie) and paid 100.00 to the vet. The Bird Shop donated 40 lbs of seed, lg bags of zupreem along with some toys. They were dropped off this morning!"

They're good people--glad it happened.

If you want, tell that bird club that if they go to an animal feeds business, they can get 50lb bags of decent parrot mix for about $25. A place like that sells food for all sorts of animals----horses, cows, goats, sheep, alpacas, parrots of all sizes, reptiles, rodents. I'm sure those birds won't mind it not being Zupreem.

I received an update to this story:

Miami Valley Bird Club & Rescue is happy to report that a resolution has been reached in the Troy bird hoarding case.

We were not directly involved in the negotiations with Mr. Ratcliff. Our perspective has always been that the health, safety and welfare of the birds come first.

The birds were transferred to the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary where they will hopefully be able to have a long and happy life.

The Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary, along with many other bird groups and individuals,

has supported us along the way. We wish to thank the many individuals and groups who have come forward to

help resolve this case for these birds. The birds of Troy will need your continued support. We hope to continue to

work for the betterment of captive exotic birds so this type of situation is avoided in the future.

You can continue to support the Birds of Troy Ohio by donating to
