No idea what to call him, he was Christian in his previous home, I LOVE the name Joaquin but this morning when he climbed down off his cage & came strolling into the kitchen looking for me, I said 'What are ya doin' driftin' around unsupervised!"

I know all Greys look alike, but I feel like this boy actually has his very own look... I tried to get a close up of his funny eye.. not sure if you'll be able to see it... 1st pic.. Movin' on up, to a delux apartment in the sky!

"Hey watch it wit that thing, I've got wings & I KNOW how to use 'em!"

Very blurry because he decided to start dancing at the moment the shutter clicked

Whatever you end up calling him he is a very handsome fella who has a nice looking cage, boy did he end in the right place, now it just needs a couple more toys and a heavy duty bell to make that cage his home.

I would take him to the vet for any beak trimming as that is something that must be done properly and the nails too unless he will allow you to file them down otherwise let the vet take the rap for that too.

Even though the picture is blurry you can see his eye is darker yellow than the other, thanks for sharing some pictures of your new fella.

I like both names, Joaquin means, "God will establish" in Spanish I understand. I can see the difference it the eyes, very unique and makes your precious guy easy to find in a group. Good for him! I look forward to learning more about Christian/Joaquin. Christian stands for "Servant/follower of Christ ".

WOW! Very nice! :)

He seems right at home already!!! I would definately go with getting the vet to do the trimming and such. It's much less stressful (mostly because the vet is probably quick!) and less painful for you ;)

The cage you got is beautiful and fits him perfectly!

I dunno about the name change because they seem to really get attached to their names... Congratulations on the new bird. And yes, let the vet be the bad guy and do the trimming. Maybe you can call him both names? He sure is beautiful. How old is he?

Hi Cupid - No new pics yet! He is a very good bird, don't think he really read the rules of how to be a Grey! He's quiet as a mouse, not afraid of anything or anyone, no use for toys (gonna have a bunch of brand new toys to give away)He did touch one for moment when he saw me pick it up and start nawing on a colored block & a bit of leather(Trying the birdy see birdy do approach). He gave it a go then dropped it & looked at me like, "Meh u can have it!" Maybe he is just much older than 8 yrs or he's just a calm, reserved kinda guy! He follows me everywhere when I'm home... I thought it was bad enough that the dogs have to escort me to the toilet, now I have a bird that tiptoes past two 100lb dogs to get a front row seat! I can't really handle him too much cause then he starts his wonky "sexy time" behavior, wish I could get him a blow up bird! I sit him at my desk every morning and play a few Youtube vids of chatty Greys hoping it might trip a switch, sometimes he watches but mostly he just grooms himself. Working on breaking his sunflower seed/peanut addiction... long road ahead there I think!

I adopted him from someone that no longer wanted him. I could not find a private breeder anywhere in my area but most pet stores will get you one. All I know is STAY AWAY from The Bird Jungle in Westchester. There are supposed to be a few good "avian only" stores in NJ.. good luck!

Looks like you've got a great bird there. Don't give up on the toys too soon. It may just take him a little while to warm up to them or for you to find the type of toys he likes to play with. My boy loves his bell. He also loves to play with things that dangle down from the perch he's on; he likes to lift them up and then drop them and hear the noise they make. He also likes to play with smaller toys dangling on a chain that he can throw around.
