Popsicle Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Been reading about Grey's diet and found some info that are a bit contradictory. Example: read somewhere milk is really poisonous for them but then read on another website that parrots can and should have yoghurt. Can anybody help? What is it that I actually SHOULDN'T feed them at all? I also read these other things: NO mushroom, NO chocolate, NO caffeine, NO avocado. Anything else? And what SHOULD I definitely include in their diet? Thanks
judygram Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 Greys are lactose intolerant hence they should not have dairy products but I think the process of making yogurt removes the lactose so they can eat it, a little bit of cheddar cheese is also good for them but in moderation. You are right about the no mushrooms, no chocolate, no caffeine, no avocado and no carbonated drinks, you will find a list of forbidden foods in the bird food room along with vegetables and fruits they can have.
