Tagtastic Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 I have been busy making my own foraging toys. The ones at the store are just too expensive! My question is, what do you put in them? I want to make it exciting for her to open so she keeps wanting to figure things out. Please let me know what you put in them!
Ray P Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 The feild is wide open on this. It can be raw almonds. baby carrots, broccoli spears, a seedball or a peice of wood it`s up to you. Put their favorite treat inside.
KimKim Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I usually put Nutriberries, almonds and even some pellets in Babalu's forage ball.
Talon Posted June 11, 2011 Posted June 11, 2011 I have small hanging buckets in their cages. I put broken toy pieces or wooden beads wrapped in paper. SOmetimes I put treats in them, but my greys are picky and have decided they don't like the usual treats...
Tagtastic Posted June 11, 2011 Author Posted June 11, 2011 She found the treats...she demolished the lids in the process LOL! I am going to look for small buckets, where did u find them?
Talon Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 I ordered them online. Don't remember where, but I bought a wooden one and my timneh loved it. I ordered a stainless steel one another time for her other cage and she freaked out and never got used to it. I gave that one to my cag, she didn't seem to mind.
judygram Posted June 12, 2011 Posted June 12, 2011 This site has that bucket Penny is talking about and is where I got mine: http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=5059+5648+16426&pcatid=16426
Tagtastic Posted June 12, 2011 Author Posted June 12, 2011 Awesome! Thanks...I'm going to order one with the foot toys!
JDS5607 Posted June 15, 2011 Posted June 15, 2011 Almonds! Or, if the holes are tubular, noodles! Just be careful not to squeeze anything into the holes-- Your grey will want whatever is in there, the toy will be destroyed! lol
marions91 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I tried to order the bucket, but they don't ship outside of America.....bummer
judygram Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Marion, I don't know whether this will help you or not but this site has those wooden buckets: http://www.24parrot.com/Mardi-Gras-Toy-Bucket-and-Refill--Large-P38015A/ http://www.24parrot.com/Mardi-Gras-Toy-Bucket-and-Refill--Medium-P38014a/

Malikah Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 (edited) Aww, how could you be mad at that sweet face. LOL! I use the bigger one of these for Kito's toybox in her sleeping cage. http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/wood-storage-box-722744/ They have no hardware, even the cover is hinged with small pieces of dowel.
