reema
Hey everyonee!!! I'm new here (obviously) and wanted to introduce myself! Quick intro to myself: My name's Reema, I'm a 21 year old student, and currently major-less. No idea what I want to major in yet... there's so much pressure as I'm getting older it sucks! But other than that, some stuff about me: I'm Indian and come from a large family, live with my grandparents, parents, and have younger twin brothers. I live in the Greater Toronto Area And there's a huge ravine in my backyard which I plan on going for awesome walks with my Grey! (Harnessed of course) My birdies: Well, I have had budgie's in the past that lived long and happy lives and I loved them!! My cousins could not take care of them (yes I know.. who can't take care of budgies?) But my family gladly took in the birdies and it was really awesome and the results were very unexpected. One learned to whistle exactly the way I whistled songs to him and I swear he was on the verge of talking as well lol! But unfortunately, it's been a couple of years since they passed away and I just didn't feel like getting "replacements" for a while. But now I think I'm ready since it's been a couple years now and I've been itching to get a parrot now! Did some research, and decided to go with the extremely beautiful, talented, and intelligent African Greys!!!!!! I found a breeder and chose my baby and he/she is 3 weeks old and I cannot wait to find out the sex. Secretly I hope it's a boy because I heard that they love female owners much more. Not sure if that's true but nonetheless I will love it with all my heart! I'm soo excited, getting toys and a new cage and everything! It's pretty hilarious to my family because they think I'm acting like an expecting mother or something. LOL. Anyways, I'm extremely excited and can't wait to get my journey started with my new best friend Oh! I'll be getting my baby late july/early august when he/she is fully weaned! Until then I plan on getting as much knowledge as possible! Edited May 30, 2011 by reema

Luvparrots
Hi Reema, congratulations on your new baby grey. I have a female TAG, Ana Grey, she and I are very close so I can't agree with males liking female owners better. It all has to do with trust, I believe. Looking forward to hearing more about your new baby and seeing some pictures when you get a chance. Welcome to the grey family!
judygram
Hello Reema and welcome to our family, so glad to hear you have decided to get a grey. You have come to the right place to learn all you can about african greys for we have a wealth of firsthand experience so do read thru as many of the threads for lots of useful information and if you have any questions please just ask and we will help you in any way we can. I think you will come to consider this grey as a child as most all of us here do, they are part of our family and mean as much to us as one of our own human children and you have good company here. Bird people are a different breed of human and non bird people do not understand how we feel about our birds and call us nuts, well if I am a bird nut then I am and I couldn't be happier about it. Are you able to visit your baby grey while it is being weaned? If so would you take a picture or two to share with us as we love to see the babies.
