Ray P
To be a brat or not to be a brat that is the question. I think every one knows that line from Hamlet 3/1 by Shakespeare. To be or not to be that is the question. For a parrot to be a brat or not to be a brat, I think we all know that awnser. When mother nature speaks a parrot will listen because she is louder than we are. You can make small changes and redirect some of actions but when mother speaks she wins. It is a must for us to understand that in the wild they have to make choiceses on eating keeping the beak on order and keep their talons sharp. In our home mother nature still talks to them and they listen so we have to give them things to do that they do in the wild. To make toothpicks out of 2x4`s, dig for their food and guard their young and them self from the unknown. To be a brat or not to be a brat we know the awnsre or at least we should know. They are what they are so enjoy them for that not what you think they should be.
katana600
Today... I choose to be a brat. LOL. That is a great insight for our birds Ray. I do try to look at their life from their perspective and give them opportunities to do what they do naturally and still keep my house from being destroyed. With our recent rehomed fellow Gilbert, I try to meet him where he is and it is a wonderful thing to look at life and play at his level.

chelseaB
Biscotti generally chooses to "be a brat", as you are saying- "such is the nature of the beast". Very true, mother nature made them this way to survive on their own and as a species. It is wonderful to accept them as they are & were designed to be & not try to change these wonderful creatures into something that they are not. I love "my brat" !! Thanks for sharing this insight Ray!!
Shelly Yokum
For one, I think mother nature is bi-polar, specially when it comes to this weather. Prince has been a brat the last couple of days. He has learned he can get out of the breeder door, faster then I can shut the cage door, then when I came up with a solution to that he came out the food dish side. He got out and figured a way to eat my vertical blinds in no time. So I power washed my cages today, and now Prince and Roy have traded cages. Roy's old cage, has locks on everything, not just the flaps. Roy has no interest in trying to break free, it is just too much work for him. I have to say, Prince sure has been busy and kept me busy all weekend. He is totally a brat, but you know I just gotta love him.
