Zoom Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 He takes a big drink of water, then steps out onto the door of his cage, bangs his beak hard against the cage like a woodpecker, then regurgitates the water. I can't figure out why. He doesn't regurgitate food, just water. (Background: he's a 13-year-old Amazon and I've had him for about 5 months. I've seen him do this several times.)
Ray P Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 That`s interesting. I have a(about) 15 year old Blue Front that we have had for 2 years and 4 months and I have not seen this with her. I wish I could help. Cricket has been a sweet love able zon and I could not ask for anything more.
Luvparrots Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 I'm afraid I'm no help as my Amazon, BF male, is only 3 years old and has not displayed this type of behavior.
Jayd Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 It's not unusual for a Zon,[some] to spit water or hold it in there beak, it's a form of exercising. lol
Zoom Posted April 10, 2011 Author Posted April 10, 2011 Exercising? Really? Wow. I'm very happy to hear that - although I have to say it's one of the weirder things I've heard today. Thanks Jayd, I'll stop worrying now.
