FlyFree
Hello everyone! I'm hoping to learn from all of you and currently looking for a reputable place to get one of these wonderful birds. I've looked in rescues but did not see any babies- I would like to socialize and raise a baby. I've heard "bad" things about commercial pet shops but unfortunately thats all we have around my area. I am in the NY/NJ area. Looking forward to hearing from all of you!! Thanks for reading.
Ray P
Hi FlyFree and welcome to the forum. And not all pet stores are bad. Our grey Corky came from a small pet shop that had a very good support system with lots of imformation and they hand raised all their birds. We visited her for 5 weeks befor we could bring her home. Lots of great people her to help when you need them.

judygram
One of my favorites is "For the Love of Greys" by Bobbi Brinker and I also recommend these: "The African Grey Parrot Handbook" by Mattie Sue Athan and Dianalee Deter, "African Grey Parrots" by Maggie Wright, "African Grey Parrots by Nikki Moustaki.
Greymatter
Welcome FlyFree! I had to call 19 breeders before I found an available baby grey when I was looking for one (in 1999). They were ALL spoken for otherwise! Good luck on your search!
Eshana
Welcome! I am also in the NY/NJ area and would like to recommend Fancy Feathers Aviary. I bought my 'tiel from there, and that is also where I plan to get my grey when the time comes.
