Ellen Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Can someone tell me what I can and cant use on my wood floors ? I Have kids and dogs and now a parrot and it needs to be cleaned pretty badly. I dont want to strip the shine either. Has anyone ever used one of those new push thingys with the steam ? Thanks again guys Ellen
Ray P Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 We have a Shark vac & steam and it works good on our floors. Our floors are not the new type of prefinish as we have a log cabin with 1 in thick plank flooring that is stain and sealed
rbpittman Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I also use the Shark steam n vac on my hardwod - 3/4" white oak stained and sealed. Works great and bought it specifically because I have parrots. I also use vinegar water to spray while doing the quick wipe of of "poo" Robin
MarcusCAG Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I don't know if this would be applicable for wooden floors too (like a dilute solution for mopping), but around the house on wooden furniture I use a bird-safe mixture of water, about a cup of white vinegar, a spoonful of olive oil, and couple of drops of lemon essential oil (the real deal, I get it at Whole Foods) shaken in a squirt bottle and spray it on a rag for dusting. I found the recipe at another parrot board somewhere and just kind of mix things up as I go now, I don't measure the liquids out exactly anymore. Works great!
