Natalia
Hello everyone, I came home today and noticed that my bird has bloody spots above her both eyes. He is eating fine, looks pretty happy. Please ,share what could have caused that. Thank you.
Luvparrots
If you could post some pictures, that might help us to understand what might have happened.
MarcusCAG
If I can go out on a little limb here, every once in a while our Marcus will get spooked while in his cage and will start flapping all around and ram himself into his cage bars. He's never actually broken the skin (as there is no bleeding) but he does get pink, sore-looking spots from where he bonks his little gray head, and occasionally it looks like some of the skin gets sloughed off a bit. So perhaps it was something like that with your Grey today. Either way, I just hope the wounds heal up soon!
Dave007
That's something that can happen periodically from playing with toys very roughly, especially hard toys that they bang around.
Natalia
I can't get a good picture. The spots are not really seen on the picture. He does not sit in the cage, he is kept on the bird stand. Last night he tried to get through the glass door, but did not really hit it. The only thing that I could think of is that he was scratching the head. Any other suggestions? Thanks. Talon
My cag, Rikki gets frantic when I try and mist her with a spray bottle. She will get red, bloodshot spots all over the white part of her face and eyes. It can take hours tomgo away. Her entire face will be red..... It seems to happen when she is extremely stressed as well.
judygram
Every once in a while I notice that Josey has a scratch or spot on her head where she must have been hit by her bell she plays with, she sometimes attacks it with gusto as most do and when you play rough it usually shows, I wouldn't worry about it unless it swells. Spinner
Greys are known to have tears with trace blood in them. Typically happens only while restraining for a grooming or vet procedure, or during exceptionally rough play time (as Dave mentioned). It should clear itself quickly. If not, schedule a vet visit. If you're describing more of a wound, then keep it clean for a healthy heal.
munch
I was just wondering how things are going and if you took your grey to the vet. If it cleared- yay! If not, please see a vet. Another thread spoke about red spots near the eye which turned out to be a virus. Better neurotic than sorry (my version of "better safe than sorry") Edited March 28, 2011 by munch
