Talon
Do you have both birds right now? A little history would help with the advice.
Talon
I will say, that we all do it a bit differently. I adopted a 2 year old after having another grey for 2 years. Introducing them went quite quickly, but under strict supervision. I had my older kids to help. What is your situation?
BenzMama
Without knowing your particular situation, the only thing I can suggest at this time is to maintain the 'pecking order' of who was there first. When we rescued another CAG then the same evening were asked to foster another, we took our CAG Jewel's feelings into great consideration. She had, after all, been a member of our flock for almost 2 years. When our CAGs are fed, it's Jewel first then Dorian then Toby. Same with greeting them each morning & telling them goodnight at bedtime. Out of cage time has Jewel's door opened first, then on to Dorian & Toby. They are such intuitive little souls & don't miss anything. They can ~ and usually will ~ show upset if they think they are being shunned in the slightest in favor of a new flock member. Just be vigilant to give extra assurances to your current Grey that s/he is still a very important flock member.
judygram
BenzMama is correct, you have to maintain the proper pecking order meaning the first bird there stays first in everything, first fed, first spoken to, first to be let out and so forth, that will keep the first one's nose from getting out of joint, so to speak. Maintain supervision when they are out at the same time to make sure no conflicts take place, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones and they will tolerate each other but there is no guarantee that they will. We have many members who have more than one grey and they do just fine.
