macaw (sunshine) putting claw into eye and rubbing... help

Sunshine's eye is a bit swollen and the skin around it is pinkish. He puts his claw into the lower part and stretches out the skin on the bottom. He appears to be scratching it. I can't get him into the vet until Monday afternoon, as that is the earliest my vet can see him. Has anyone seen this behavior before and what should I do until I can get him to the vet. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps he has something stuck under the lower lid, putting him in the shower for a good soaking may help flush it out. If your Vet approves you might find some Simillisan drops for red irritated eyes it is homeopathic and very safe to use. My husbands Ophthalmologist suggested it for his sensitive eyes.

Kevin if it is a bit swollen and pink I would be concerned enough to at least call my vet to inquire about it, maybe you already have since this was Friday, let us know what you found out and if it is still a problem.

What did the vet say? I am curious what happened and if Sunshine is ok! Did it resolve on its own or did it require a visit to the vet? I hope Sunshine is ok now!
