Keegan
Hi , My Bird has been scratching a lot these days, also shes loosing feathers, small grey feathers, while fluffy feathers and a few red feathers, shes about 1 yr 2 months. Although the time seems right for moulting, I am still not sure. I don't have any Avian vets around to check her, its not an option. Can some one advise, there are not bald patches on her, expect under the wing at the upper part, more like an arm pit. Her behavior is normal and shes friendly. But she wont allow me to lift her wing to post a picture here. Let me know if any pictures of the feathers can help? Regards, Keegan
judygram
I would venture a guess that your bird is molting since she is loosing small feathers and the tail and wing feathers fall out a few at a time so the bird never loses the ability to fly. Do you bathe her often? Have you tried using aloe vera juice as a spray? It is helpful for dry skin for they are usually itchy when the new pins are coming in. You can post a pic of her if you like, I would like to see her.
Keegan
Hi Judygram, Thanks for replying. Well we bath here every day since its cold and dry weather here. Also give her bath in Aloe Vera 100% juice. Its just the ones under her wing here I can see her skin, is what I am worried about .
judygram
Well if it is near where her wing joins the body underneath there would not be a lot of feathers and I would not worry about it if it isn't large patches of bare skin, she looks in pretty good condition from the picture you shared.
