freefly
Can I use corrugated Galvinised tin roofing for the roof on an aviary i would like to build I believe that the "galvinised" would not be bird safe
Spinner
It should be OK to use it for roofing - it's not like your Grey is going to be chewing on the roof material. Many outdoor aviaries use galvanized wire mesh products for the walls. As long as it is good quality there truly is little danger to your bird(s). That said, why not put up a nice corrugated polycarbonate roof on the aviary - the sunshine is welcomed (as long as you have shade sources like some trees in there). Luvparrots
Thanks for the information Dave. I want to build an outdoor aviary attached to one of the windows of my bird room so my birdies can come and go, in-or-out in the summer. So this is great info!!!!! Greywings
Our Avian Veterinarian says safe as long as it is in good shape, when the element start to break it down then it can be dangerous. We would be replacing it at that point anyway.
birdhouse
So how do you know when it isn't safe? And doesn't tin give off heat in the sun?
Keywe
i used galvanized wire from Home Depot on my outdoor aviary, and it's been fine..had it for 2 years and so far no rust. I did wipe it down with vinegar to neutralize anything on it though. Keywe climbs on it now and then, but mostly sits on the branches I have in it. I also put a corregated roof over part of it for shade..
