bran
Hi there, I was recently looking through an article in Bird Talk Magazine, and they were talking about getting ultra-violet lamps in the winter time. I live in Seattle, and it is the beginning of the "peak" of winter time. The Sun comes up abou 8:30 am and goes down about 4:00pm... so that really doesnt leave alot of time for sun. I am curious, is that enough for my TAG Dexter? I am wanting to make sure that he get enough Vitamin D during the winter season. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! thanks bran
Karcar
Hi Bran, Are you putting Dexter outside because light coming in thru a window is not beneficial, there is a sticky posted in the Grey Lounge on lighting , it should help you. Dave007
Solar lighting. That usually means solar paneling which replaces roofs on homes. The lighting you're thinking about is called Full Spectrum Lighting which has to do with the broad rays of light that come from the bulb. Below is a small sample of places that sell it. There's many more but you would be doing yourself a favor by first reading up on this type of indoor bird lighting which imitates natural sun. www.theparrotstore.com/fuspli.html www.parrotsparrotsparrots.com/full-spectrum-lights.html www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?aid=1015 www.avianweb.com/lighting.html Edited November 27, 2010 by Dave007
