Ok, so we want to get a tree soon..but we are curious is it OK to have it with Pepper around? Of course we wouldn't let him on it or let him chew it [he's scared anyways], but is the scent bad?

Thanks;)

Having a tree around is fine. If you had no lighting, or ornaments on the tree, it would even be alright for the bird to perch on it periodically. Some people let their birds on the tree but they're always positive that their bird isn't the type that likes wires or ornaments.

So, to answer your question

Yes, it's safe

Yes real trees are fine and I always have a real tree, no fake tree for me, I love the way they smell and it wouldn't seem like Christmas if it was fake, of course my fids stay away from that tree for by the time they get used to the tree its time to take it down.

We always have a live tree, the birds are not allowed on it at all. Too many wires, lights and ornaments. So I hang a motion sensing gold ornament that looks kind of like PAC Man smiley face on it and when anything moves, it goes off singing merry Christmas, pupils flashing and eyelids opening and closing along with the mouth moving. The birds don't seem to like it for some reason. :P
