I've been reading a bit about PDD, and I admit I haven't a clue how and where to feel for the crop. I tried searching on google, but was confronted with gruesome necropsy pics, so I am not going there again. I basically would like to know how to locate the crop, how to palpate it, and what a normal healthy full crop looks and feels like. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Dave007 Posted October 21, 2010 Share Posted October 21, 2010 The large golf sized bulge under the head'upper chest area is the crop. These chicks have just been fed and the crop bulges. After about 21 days, the size of the crop disappears because the bird is not storing a load of food in it. It's the formula that stretches the crop. The crop shrinksafter the food is in the stomach.
