Birdnut
I'm wondering what the collective wisdom is on the question of washing bird dishes in the dish washer, as opposed to washing them by hand? I've heard that dishwasher detergent can leave a harmful residue. I've tried washing them in the dishwasher with Seventh Generation dishwasher detergent, which is supposed to be non-toxic, but it doesn't rinse very well and tends to leave a residue. judygram
I usually wash the birdie bowls in the sink by hand but I wash our dishes in the dishwasher. The fids very seldom eat anything out of our plates and such but if they rinse thoroughly then it shouldn't be a problem.
Jayd
All our dish's are hand washed with reg Dawn, this soap has been used for years around birds,[it safely removes oil from birds feathers], then, there all rinsed in apple cider vinegar... Luvparrots
I normally hand wash my birds' water and food bowls with dishwashing detergent daily and at least once a week pop them in the dishwasher for a real hot washing.

Spinner
Dishwasher. If it doesn't fit in there, it's not suitable in our household Besides the thorough washing they get with water that is hotter than I care to hand wash with, I think the dry cycle helps to sanitize bowls and their water bottles.
