My husband and I are considering proposing a new Olympic event: the Pellet Toss.

This would be similar to the shot put, with scoring based on distance tossed and number of pellets tossed in a timed period. Partially eaten pellets would be given a lower score, with the highest score being reserved for untouched, freshly served, high-dollar premium pellets.

Style points could be awarded on such factors as even distribution of pellets throughout the playing field (a freshly vacuumed living-room size floor) and placement of pellets in hard to reach positions, such as behind bookcases.

Those owners of cockatoos will especially appreciate this idea.

Lol, love it!! Averi would definitely join in. Just today she hit me smack dab in the forehead while I was working on algebra 2 homework! We also considered staging an avian "minute to win it". Last week we hung monkeys, from Averi's barrel of monkeys set,off our bird proofed lighting fixture and we timed her to see if she could throw all the monkeys down in a minute. She was quite successful!

LOL! Points might also be awarded for anything that's thrown at or to the dog? My birds seem to have an endless fascination with interacting with the dogs. Feeding & teasing are at the top of the list. Hit the dog in the head, 1 pt. Deliberately tossed food that's caught without hitting the floor gets 3 pts. Also, there might be a timed event where points are awarded for calling the dog over. Extra points if the dog was in another room beforehand.

The nice thing for me is that there's less clean up. And the dog gets a really healthy, if expensive, diet.

YES!!! I agree! I have a U-TOO and the first thing she does is swipes at her food, knocking the first layer on the floor, looking for the perfect first peace.
