RobertsKitty
There is a material known as Coroplast (also known as corrugated plastic). I was wondering if it is safe for use around birds. If it is safe for bird use you can score it with a knife and fold it into a large box type shape to go under a playpen(probably will be homemade) as a poo guard. I actually use it as the pan in my guinea pig cage and I can just take it outside and spray it off and it works AMAZING. If its safe, in my area coroplast sheets sell an 4 foot by 7 foot sheet for around $11. It is water proof and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. Anyway, here is a link to the information about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrugated_plastic
judygram
Kitty, I don't see a problem with it, and it is not too expensive. Of course if you use it as a poo guard, the bird wouldn't come in contact with it anyway. The only thing I know to be cautious about is if you can cut it with a knife then if the bird can get to it they can probably chew it into pieces and if they ingest it, I don't know how safe it would be. Maybe one of the other members has more information about this material than I do.
lovemyGreys
I have corrugated plastic on the roof of my aviary & a coupel of panels along the sides.I have not had any adverse effects & my birds are all fine. I think it would be fine to use as a poo guard, but as judygram quite rightly has pointed out with any kind of plastic be sure your birds do not ingest any. Tari
What a great idea. Wish I had thought of that. But then again the wood I used was free and I was able to put wheels on my play gym since I used wood. I love the box my husband made for my parrot play gym. See my photos for a picture. RobertsKitty
I saw it Tari and that is actually what made me think of the coroplast. Just be careful with the wood. It will retain moisture if not properly treated and I don't know if a waterproof treatment is safe for birds.

Guest Monique
Colorplast should be fine. Any kind of treated wood is not safe if they can chew it. Sounds like they can't so it would not be an issue in this case.
