I am wondering who has the oldest grey here and if anyone knows what age greys are capable of living to? I know the average is about 40-60ish but I bet some have lived far longer. Just a topic to start some conversation :)

I heard they never truly die, they arise again like the Phoenix, thus the brilliant red tail. So I figure my Grey is at least 15,000 years old, but born again 3 years ago. :P

There is one on another forum whos history can be traced 80 years ago before it is unknown, hes obviously very elderly and his mum hasnt posted for some time so unsure whether hes still with us now.

I get sad when I think about this. We're both 42, and our greys are only 2 years old. I wish I'd known I was a lover of greys about 20 years ago. I constantly worry about the fate of our fids once we die. I'm sure I'm not alone.

I agree with you there, Lambert. I'm only 23 so Tui will hopefully live a very long life with me. I'll look like her, all grey, when I'm old. ;) LOL. I'll be in a rocking chair doing my knitting with a 60 year old Tui perched on the back.

What a wonderful glimpse into your future!

I have two second cousins - one a 12 yo girl, the other a 3 yo boy. I'm grooming them at the minute to adopt Alfie when I go - so far the boy is in the lead, firstly because Alfie prefers boys I think, secondly, this boy is bird daft and just loves Alfie to bits!!
