Harrison's Bird Food or Seed

Hi Can any one shed any light on whats the best parrot food to use for an african grey hes only 12 weeks old would i better to stick with the parrot mix i buy in the pet shop or change him to Harrison's Bird Food?:whistle:

IT's entirely up to you. You just need to make sure your parrot is getting a good mix of fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and berries and some human foods. So long as the balance of foods is right, either pellets or seeds as the staple is fine.

 

Personally, I use a seed mix plus all the other stuff. But others here use pellets.

 

I don't think it actually makes much difference except the pellets make you a kind of captive market!

Hi Noely, i think its personal preference if you go with a pellet or seed diet.As Lidia quite rightly said a good balance is required.I see you are in Ireland, i am in the UK & use a company called Rob Harvey ;He specializes in Avian diets & i know many people that use him,if you check out his website & would like any advice on the products please ask me.

The trick is variety as Lidia says.. But this also creates a problem.. You don't know the proper variety of foods to feed them.. Hence the Pellet approach. Pellets are formulated to provide the best mix of vitamins and minerals these birds need.. So by feeding pellets, any brand is good but Harrisons is considered the best, you pretty much have your bases covered. Add fruits and green veggies and your good to go..
