I would like to think that is funny Bernie, but you lost me after eating pasties, I haven't got a clue from that point on.

In plan English Ryan, Bernie is trying to imply that people like myself from the classier end of England drink Champagne (stuff out of a bottle from France) and he bets we don't "chew straw" - he's right - I don't mind the odd tipple of fizzy (but can sink a beer just as well)!!! :) Oh, I love the fact that you're half way there Ryan!!! :)

Chew straw? Now your losing me Jill. Like chewing hay? What? Who does that, really? I thought that was a stereo-type of American mid-Westerners... I know I'm going to hear it from someone on that, who knows how many people I just insulted! Now you and Bernie are going to get me in trouble! And, I still don't know what a pastie is??? Like a butterhorn? Mmmm, butterhorn, yum!

Ha Ha Ha! Yes! Straw/Hay! It's the country bumpkins who chew straw (and exactly like all of those Americans YOU have just insulted)!!!!

A pastie is a snack which was "invented" by wives for their coal miner husbands years ago, made out of pastry with one half stuffed with a savoury filling (say corned beef etc) and the other was stuffed with a sweet filling, such as apple etc - so you had your meal and dessert all in one, small package.

Things have rolled on now though, and pasties are one flavour only (and savoury) - there's loads of fillings and the most famous one of all is a cornish pastie (from Cornwall).

As for getting you into trouble - when Bernie and I are banned soon, you'll be left to cause the mayhem alone :D

JILL I know there are not many schools up Norf but the pastie was invented down here!! It is a roast beef dinner with vegies and no gravy in a pie for the farmers. How the hell can you put fruit in the same pie??? that would make a flippin mess in his lunch box if he droped down a mine!!!

Also a man chewing on a straw, it a sign of intellegence, he is contemplating the meaning of life, and things to complicated to explain here.

Pasties is a drink from France a bit like Pernod, or if you say it backwards Donerp hehe ahem, so up Norf the wives are to busy polishing the step like Nora Batty to know how to nock up a real pastie for a straw chewing intalicutal.

I need a spel choke.

Rebnie.

The pasty originally came from Devon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT NORF

The traditional Cornish pasty is filled with beef, sliced potato, sweed and onion, and baked.

Pasties with many different fillings are made; some shops specialise in selling all sorts of pasties. In a proper pasty, the filling ingredients must never be cooked before they are wrapped in the pastry casing

So how the hell can you put a fruit in there it would go manki

QUOTES FROM YOUR POST so I win HA HA HA HA :-)

Wow! It's amazing that my culture is based on British culture, yet I'm certainly getting an education on topics I've never heard about. Can't I just have a plate with meat and veggies, perhaps with a side of bread, no straw though please. I prefer my hay or straw to be from wheat that has been to the mill already. You two crack me up!
