Joolesgreyuk Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 One of the most beautiful of the British wild birds is the green woodpecker, I am fortunate enough to see this bird near my home on occasion as I live close to a woodland area. This bird is incredibly beautiful and pictures cannot do it justice. I once saw the back of one as I approached my house in the car and thought it was someone's missing parrot the colours are so dramatic when you are close. These birds are mainly green with a red cap, the top of it's tail is yellow and this colour runs up the back of the bird. The top half of it's wings are green. I never have my camera with me when I see this bird and even if I did I wouldn't have time to take a picture so I have provided a link: http://www.animalpicturesarchive.com/view.php?tid=3&did=3433
pearllyn Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 You're so lucky Julie - I've never seen one in real life, but would love to ! We've holidayd where I know they are, but no luck! Thanks for this .
judygram Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 What a beautiful bird Jules, if they are anything like the ones here yes they will be gone in a flash, you won't have time to get a pic of it, maybe one day you will get lucky.
