Colored plastic straws

Are they safe for African grey birds to chew on?

A lot of manufacturers of bird toys use them

and I was just wondering what your experiences

have been?

They are pretty inexpensive if you make your own toys

but i wonder if the greys can chew through the plastic?

They're next-best to chopsticks. Gabi loves to hold them at one end and attempt to catch the other - often hitting herself and generally causing great fun. The whole event brings out the best vocal objections :)

As Janet and others said, tying them up makes for great fun. I also coil them up for a springy toy.

How do you get them to coil? I have tried a few ways and they have all just looked like a mess lol, my birds liked them anyway, but I would like them to look better LoL

That straw toy is soo cool! I am definitely going to make one for Brutus. He loves big pasta shapes threaded on a rawhide. The toy is reloadable, but it makes a mess. He sure loves it though.
