pearllyn
The little soul looked up, and saw That all was shiny bright, With interlacing rainbows Reflecting glorious light. "Oh No!" it cried, "I've let you down By coming back too soon, I only went away in March And now, it's barely June. I tried to stay, I really did" A tear fell from it's eye "I only just got used to life, I didn't want to die. I'll go right back and start again, And see what I can do", But Love said "No, my little one, That path is not for you. Three time you crossed the threshold, And each time you have lain, In fear and pain and dark despair, And three times coldly slain". The little soul was lifted up In Love's sublime embrace, And all its grievous wounds were healed, With tendernous and grace. It breathed a sigh and snuggled down, As happy as could be, Then, had a little look around, And looking, it could see... That by a door below, stood souls In long and winding Queue. "Oh, pity them, they look so sad. Please let them stay here too". "Alas" said Love, "it breaks my heart But each one must return. They all have many paths to tread, And many things to learn. For they are Humankind, and all Possess, for good or ill, Intellect and concience And, best of all, free will. Yet in their arrogance they spurn Pure truth for shoddy sham. And many lifetimes may elapse, Before they're born a lamb.

Post edited by: pearllyn, at: 2010/04/04 13:
Joolesgreyuk
Thanks for sharing this lovely easter-inspired poem Lyn. Now I feel guilty that we are having roast lamb today  Karma

judygram
Lamb, pig makes no difference, they both are God's creatures, right!
JillyBeanz
.....and hence I am a vegetarian!

Joolesgreyuk
Really Jill, hmmm I've seen pics of Harvey with chicken legs, do you just cook for him then or does hubby indulge? It seems cruel to eat meat I know but man has eaten meat since their beginning and we have teeth designed for ripping the stuff apart.
judygram
I think it was meant for us to eat meat, besides other animals eat meat and we are animals too but if you don't eat meat then that is your decision but you are missing out on some good protein.
JillyBeanz
Michael's input to all of this is "As humans, we are at the top of the food chain"! Just me veggie Julie - have been since I was 12. I don't mind handling or preparing meat - I don't share my views with anyone about eating meat. It is a personal decision and people are still surprised when they find out I am vegetarian as I have been told on numerous occasions "Eeh, I'm surprised - you don't look like one"!!!! What's that supposed to mean!!!!
Joolesgreyuk
LOL I think they mean pale and skinny Jill. Actually I'm not making excuses for myself as I don't really feel the need to but I am prone to anemia, if I did give up meat I think it might become more of a problem but you are quite right Jill, it's personal choice. judygram
Well I do eat meat and its my choice and I don't feel any remore for doing so but I do respect others who do choose to not eat meat for whatever reason as you say it is a personal choice but you got to admit that we love to "rib" you about it. Yeah just what does a vegetarian look like, I guess they think they are skinny people since they don't eat meat, now I am not implying that you are not skinny but maybe you have womanly curves, does that get me off the hook!
pearllyn
Goodness of course it's a personal choice - I haven't eaten baby sheep since we started breeding suffolks in the early 90s, but I agree in sorts with you all - I don't particularly think it's wrong to eat meat, but I am vehemently against any animal suffering emotionally or physically at the hands of us humans for any reason - including eating them! And yes - I do get upset when I'm pulling a chicken to bits!! Thanks for karma though!!
