pearllyn Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Last wee Alfie managed to get the top off of my nail varnish - she didn't break it off but actually unscrewed the top. I have let her play with screw tops in the past in the belief she wouldn't be able to take the top off. She dropped it straight away but got a tiny blob on her tongue, which she let me rinse of immediately. She doesn't seem to have had any adverse effects from it. She hasn't offered to go near the nail polish again. Just thought I'd share - that's the last time I underestimate her - ever! Hope you and yours are all well. Lyn & Alfie. xx
Elvenking Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Oh heck yeah, if anything contains anything that could hurt them at all, I just take it away. I feel bad sometimes but how bad would I feel if he ever got hurt. Good thing to share though, they are clever little things, as well as having very functional beaks.
judygram Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I gave up on nail polish as I don't usually wear it anyways and when I did Josey would freak out at the sight of my nails so I leave them bare, maybe a clear coat. Its good Alfie let you rinse her tongue off, most would have fought it.
Lambert58 Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 They go after the 1 thing in the room that will do the most harm to them, don't they? It's an uncanny ability, and bears CONSTANT watching lol.
Luvparrots Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 We do have to be on guard at all times! Our greys are so clever and get into things so quickly. I'm glad you were quick and able to set things right quickly!
Elvenking Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Lol....I never go much longer than 10 seconds without lookingat Issac. And I feel that is too long sometimes. IT's a life-change introducing a bird into your life...zero doubt.
danmcq Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Very scary event, I feel for you and Alfie! How is Alfie this morning?
Greywings Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 She is a mechanical genius, they do have that what can I get into trouble with gene prominently displayed sometimes.
pearllyn Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 Thanks folks - she is fine now, thanks Dan, by the time I had finished rinsing I couldn't see any sign of polish left on her tongue - she was soooooo good and just basically sat with her tongue out for me! It was a scare though - I was amazed afterwards that I hadn't panicked, but it didn't occur to me at the time!!
